Half Life freezes forward/backward movement

My system is a Dell P4 1.8GHz w/640Mb ram running XP SP-1. Several
times, most recently in the Interloper segment, I get audio static and
I cannot move forward or backward. I'm able to turn, fire, reload,
change weapons, but I can't move. Before I started the game I
installed the 1.1.1.0 full patch because the game wouldn't run in XP.
In previous segments, I was able to figure out how to move/jump to
avoid the lockup, but I can't now. Can anyone help??

What brand of graphics card do you have? What sound card? Are they
updated?

My sound card is a SoundBlaster Audigy, and my video card is a 128Mb
Nvidia GeForce4 MX 440 (AGP8X). The drivers are up-to-date.
