Ok when i was installing XP home eddition it restarted and
it asked for what dos to start on xp or 98? i chose xp it
then said couldn't find the hal.dll



please help me!!

You'll probably need to expand the file from the CD.
Type this command:
expand d:\i386\hal.dl_ (substitute "d" for the letter of your CD drive)
c:\windows\system32\hal.dll.
Substitute d: for the drive letter of your CD.
Once the file is expanded exit the Recovery Console and restart the
computer.
