***HACKING HARDWARES, XP?****

Hi curious fellows,

As an intermediate programmer I am now hearing this question in my
programming class more and more every day.
My friends tell me it IS possible, of course not now with these basic
tools. They say it is a powerful software and a shocking revolution in
hacking which uses your motherboard's overcloacking software, heats up the
CPU to death and also the graphic card burns. It low formats the hard drive,
shuts down
the fans and eliminates all the essential limbs in the your PC one by
one.Then you see a nice dark smoke coming out of your computer's case (which
is actually
caused by the burning wires close to the fans), and you have to call the
police
because you think it is a terrorist attack....(XP)

They also talk about bursting the monitor into flames, but I always kick
their asses for this dim image. (What can they do with LCD monitors?! or
with Laptops ruining with Batteries?)

MY question is about the reality of all these dreams. Are these people just
dreaming of nothing ,or it is really possible to explode harwares in this
way
while the victims' computer is hacked in the heart?
