I just found this hacker tool on my system, using
WinXPpro that has infected MSREGLD32.EXE. Norton can not
clean it and recommends that it be deleted. Doen anyone
know what this exe file is and what impact deleting it
might have.
Thanks!!

Do a google search and you'll find that it is part of some virus you must
have gotten. Just checked and my XP Home machine gets along just fine
without that exe.

If Norton identified it by name, you can look up that name at the Symantec
website. The data sheets at this site include a description of the virus
and removal directions.

Normally when the file can't be cleaned it's because it is in use.
Restarting in Safe Mode should stop it from loading and give Norton's a
chance to clean it up. You'll still want to check the Symantec website
though as there are often additional steps the user needs to do manually.

Been visiting Warez sites recently?
Just delete the file.

If the hacker tools have been removed already try:

Start > Run > type in "msconfig" > hit Enter > go to Startup tab > uncheck
MSREGLD32.EXE's entry > click any OKs.

next

right-click My Computer > select Properties > System Restore tab > check the
"Turn off System Restore on all drives" checkbox > click any OKs etc.

rename file to MSREGLD32.bak

Reboot your computer. Check Task Manager.

Thanks for the feedback. Yes, sort of a virus but non-
distructive. Just opens my system to potential hacker
access. Will try Dragonteeth's idea of renaming it just
to be safe.
Best Regards
