This AM I got the blue screen on start up (before Windows). My PC is a Dell
Dimension 850T with 768 MB RAM, running XP Pro. I could not start in any
mode. the error code from the blue screen is:

STOP: 0x0000007B (0xF7C44528,0xC0000034,0x00000000,0x00000000)

The screen said to run virus detection software and chkdisk /F. Since I
cannot access the PC I am unable to do either. Note that I am using my
satellite PC on a 2 PC local network to communicate this message.

I have never experienced this before and desperately need help in correcting
this problem. ...........Thanks...............

Insert the XP CD, boot it to CD, CHoose "Recovery Console " from boot menu.
When the recovery console comes up to a command prompt (c:\windows) Type in
chkdsk c: /f and press enter.

Unfortunately my boot drive is F not C and the PC only seems to recognize the
C-drive. I did run chkdsk /p on Drive C and it seems to be OK. How can I
reach the boot drive F?

Insertthe XP CD, boot to it (might have to change the BIOS boot priority).
Choose recovery console from the menu,
when the recovery console comes up.
type in "bootcfg /?" this will show the options for listing and rebuilding
the default boot.
