guitar neck diagrams for word

I would like to write a book on learning guitar but need
to make neck diagrams for scales and chords. I know you
can get music fonts but they do not work very well for
making neck/fret/finger diagrams. Should I create them in
a graphics program of some kind and import them? A lot of
music magazines make it work but they wont tell me how
they do it. Any ideas?

Hi, Danny,

The magazines probably use special software, not a word processor. But
there are chord fonts you can use in Word. For example, see
http://www.guitarchordfont.com/.
