I am trying to use group policy in XP-Home and it tells you to add it from the snap-ins list, but it is not listed there, how can I get it there.

Windows XP Home Edition does not have Group Policy....its only
available with Windows XP Professional.

Basically what I want to do is. I have a few programs that I want to run automatically when xp is started, group policy was the way it had to be done, is there any alternatives that i can use to do that.
