Is there a way to get gridlines only on the top half of an
excel chart. I want to grid above the 45 degrees line and
leave the area below 45 degrees blank.

I have thought about creating the lines I want and adding
them to the chart's source-data. The problem I have is
that I need a legend and these lines get added to the
legend as well.

Any ideas?

Hi Robert,

Additional data series to plot the lines is probably the best solution.

You can remove the extra entries from the legend.
Select the legend then select the legend entry, make sure both text and
marker are selected, then delete.
