Green shading on text for downloads

I just downloaded two separate documents and discovered that there is "green
shading" over the entire document. I have not been able to change or
eliminate this shading, which unfortunately also appears when the document is
printed. Any idea what causes this adn how to eliminate?

Try ctrl+A, format > borders and shading > none
