Grave system error

I have been experiencing two problems with my (XP Professional, with
SP2 incstalled), which I believe are related.

The more serious problem is that sporadically my system shuts down.
This only happens when I have an internet connection open. After
rebooting, I get a message that the system was shut done due to a
grave system error. I then am invited to send a message to Microsoft,
which replies that the problem was caused by a driver, and suggests
that I check Windows Update to see if there are newer versions of my
drivers. There are none, every time I check. I have recently turned
off the option to automatically restart the computer when there is a
grave system error, and consequently I have the following new
information:

On the blue screen after the problem occurs, I see that the cause was,
"Driver_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL" (maybe I forgot to write what it was
not less than or equal to).

Then the problem is specified as occurring in ISDN_p.sys.

The second problem is that sometimes I cannot activate my internet
connection. If I run eventvwr, I see that there is a system error,
"Miniport A is down". There is also an indication that the problem
with caused by yukon.exe, which is associated with a Marvell Yukon
ethernet card installed on my computer. (I have no local network,
although I may have one in the future.)

It seems that both of these problems regard my digital phone line. Am
I on the right track? Are there any suggestions for solutions?

Hi

Please try the following link to Jim Eshelman's web site left hand
column(D1):

http://aumha.org/win5/kbestop.htm

Thank you, I have already found that page on my own, and I see that
the problem is a write instruction to an address for which the driver
does not have permission. I assume that there is a problem with the
driver "idsn_p.sys". However, I don't know where to get an updated
driver. I don't even know what is the manufacturer of the device, nor
which device is at fault.

I see that my internet connection uses an "NDIS WAN miniport adapter".
I also found an article on a Microsoft site saying that a different
type of WAN driver was recommended instead of NDIS, but I don't know
enough about these drivers to know how to proceed from here.

Hi

Try the manufacturer's web site for an updated driver. It's better than
using Windows Update for hardware drivers.
