Graphs in scrolling worksheets - Marti

Thanks for reading.

I use Excel 2003 up-to-date. I have a spreadsheet with headers in the
first 4 rows, dates in column A, and data starting in B5 - S5 across
and down to row 297. I have frozen the pane at B5 so I can see the
headers and dates.

Columns A-S take up about 2/3 of my screen across. I'd like to put
some summary data and graphs in the remaining 1/3, but have them
visible on the screen no matter where I am in the rows, from 5 to 297
- does that make sense?

So, can I, for example, put the graphs and summary data in U7 - X20
and have it "magically" in U100 - U 114 when I'm viewing there?

Or, can I split the display so columns A-S scroll but columns T-Y
don't so U7-U20 are on the screen when I'm looking at U100?

I can put all the summary data and graphs on a separate worksheet, of
course, and probably not lose any functionality, but it would be great
to have it right there on display next to the data!

The way I see your problem, you can either
- Use the split-functionality in XL (somewhere in the window-menu) or
- Insert some rows and/or columns before B5, and have your graphs and
summary over there. That way, the scrolling area becomes smaller, but you'd
allways see the graphs on the top or left.

In general, I allways start my tables / lists ar row 10, and put the totals
in row 7 and 8, and the description of the data before that. That way,
opening the sheet would allways show the explanation and summary, regardless
of how long my lists are. (and I put my sum- and count-functions allways
from B11:B60000, so added data is allways included)
