After you have created or modified your images outside of FP, be sure that you import or drag-n-drop
the images into your current open FP web, then insert or link to them. You do not want FP to prompt
you to save the images, nor do you want resize the images from within FP.

I haven't used Corel in a long while (draw 9), but if I remember correctly you had to work in Corel's proprietary format .cdr, and import or export to work with jpgs. If its the same as the old days that may be your problem - you may be losing info when importing/converting.

Also remember you don't want to work with jpg's too much because you lose information everytime you save the file.

hth...lemme know if this is off track :-)

Are you by any chance using FrontPage to "resize" the image??

Also, when you pasted the new image into the Folder in FrontPage, did you get the popup asking if
you wanted to replace one with the other??

Thank you for that info. I'm puzzled because yesterday both images looked fine and now they're not. Also, they do look fine on the web page before I upload. I've been exporting from Corel Draw Essentials 9 but that's not helping. The jpg photo is having the same problem though

Ok that's the problem. Do *not* let FrontPage resize images.
Use an external editor and then don't let FrontPage do *anything* to the image except establish the
link to it.

Thank you. Should I avoid saving the image file when prompted before uploading? If so, how do I work around that

You shouldn't be prompted to save it unless your told FrontPage to do something to it.

Using Windows Explorer, right click the image and select copy. Then open your web in folder view,
open the folder you want to contain the image, right click inside the folder and select Paste.
Check the page to make sure it is still linked ( you won't have to save it again, just close it )
and then publish.

I couldn't help but reply to this thread because it pertained to something I asked last night. I was asking why I had slow pages and it was probably because of the file sizes of my images. I noticed it was suggested to "import" images. After I edited my images outside of FP I "inserted" the images. Is there a big difference between "import" and "insert?"

By the way, I am at the point of publishing but can't seem to get all of the answers I need. You may want to check out that thread I started today.

Thank you Crash!

When you import, FP doesn't touch the images.

It's safest to import to an FP folder, then insert from that folder into your design. But, to tell ya the truth I've never had problems that others had...I guess I've been lucky breaking da rools all my life.
