I play a lot of games. One of them freezes up constantly when I try to play.
It is a simulated slot machine game with lots of graphics. This game has
always played fine for me until recently. Now it freezes and I have to
restart cold boot my computer repeatedly. I am afraid it may cause damage to
my hard drive and I dont want to do this. I dont know what the problem is
but while troubleshooting I noticed that when I am in computer management -
Windows XP - the console tree constantly jumps up and down, like when you
click the expand and close button. Can someone tell me how to fix this
problem.

More information would help.

What is the Game, and which version?
With which version of Windows is it supposed to be compatible?
What applications or updates have been installed recently?

I play Diablo II compatible with all windows products above 2000. I use XP.
I also do online games, mainly casino Riverbelle. They have lots of
graphics. I have written to them about this problem but no response yet.
Program is supposed to be compatible with Win XP, I've used it before on same
computer. Just recently this problem started. The only thing installed
recentl.y was antivirus Norton. I uninstalled it and rebooted but did not
help.
Thanks for your response.

Thanks for your response.
The game causing most problems is an online casino game. Dont know what
version but I've always played there. Just recently the problems started. I
also play Diablo II LOD. All are compatible with Win XP til recently. Only
thing installed recently was Norton Antivirus which I have uninstalled. But
that was not the problem. Problem still exista. The error says its a driver
but I cannot determine what driver. The EMachine support center says the
error ID is 7023; the Source is the Service Control Manager; and that the
Event_Service_Exit_Failed. The Explanation given: "The specified service
stopped unexpectedly with the error indicated in the message. The service
closed safely."

I followed the steps to query in dos and got nowhere.
I simply dont know what else to do. The next time it occurs I write down
the info and poat it. But right now I cannot find the file I thought I
created.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

Analysis
A device driver installed on your system caused the problem, but we cannot
determine the precise cause. Depending on which situation is applicable to
you, do one of the following:

Additional Technical Information
Error Message: STOP 0x000000EA THREAD_STUCK_IN_DEVICE_DRIVER (Q293078)

I do not have a server so Microsoft recommendation about Hardware
Acceleration being set to 'None' was inapplicable. I do not know the
manufacturer of the device. Do not know what device. So, Microsoft's advice
to contact the manufacturer. And contacting the computer manufacturer's
product support service did not help. They wanted too much money as I am
past the warranty period of one year. There was no Updated driver available
on the Microsoft Windows Update Web site.

Thanks to anyone who can assist me.
