Outlook 2000 will not send graphic attachments (jpg, bmx, pcx). Other
attachments (.doc, xl, etc.) get sent. Problem started occurring about two
weeks ago. Before that I had no trouble sending attachments. Among other
things, I uninstalled outlook, deleted my profile, reinstalled and recreated
profile, but that did not fix the problem. Sometimes but not always, I get
the error message: no transport provided for this recipient. Creating a new
email does not help. When the problem first began, I had NAV set to scan all
outgoing email. It hung up on a file with several .jpg attachments, each
about 200 kb. NAV stalled at 6 percent. Since then no graphic files have been
sent. I now have NAV outgoing email scan disabled. I even tried using a
different email client. It didn't return an error message but stalled at 7
percent on a small (85 kb) attachment. The other client sends and receives
text attachments and standard email (as does Outlook).

i had the same exact problem when i installed OL2000 onto my XP Pro
SP1 PC with NAV 2005. graphics attachments over a particular size
would start to transmit and then hang up. after much, much
experimentation i discovered that i needed to turn on software
compression in the dial-up settings. so, assuming you're using XP Pro
and running a dial-up session...

RIGHT CLICK YOUR NETWORK ICON IN THE TASK TRAY
RIGHT CLICK YOUR DIAL-UP CONNECTION
CLICK PROPERTIES
CLICK NETWORKING
CLICK SETTINGS
BE SURE THAT ENABLE SOFTWARE COMPRESSION IS CLICKED

re-try sending your attachment. in the spirit of experimentaion, if
you find that software compression IS on, try disabling it and see
what happens.

Nope. That didn't work. Any other ideas?
