Hello !
I have a problem in my home pc - Windows XP Home edition SP2
When I try to use my scanner (HP) , the scan is ok but the graphic is not
normal, not the XP one . I tried many thing to make it back to the normal ,
doesn't help . I also tried System Restore - problem still here . Malware
free :)

Last yeas I had the same problem with my MyComputer and MyDocuments icons
and I performed System Restore and it was fixed easily however as I said
System Restore now doesn't help , I restore to earlier today , to three days
ago , to 5 days ago , to 6 days ago - no , problem is not solved .

Just to note that I have fully reformatted my HD and reinstalled Windows XP
3 weeks ago . It is fully updated but the problem started today

You can have a look , I have made a screenshot which I uploaded in my site:
http://pandaman.my.contact.bg/picture.bmp

Your answer is much appreciated :) :) :)

Hi Panda_man,
Did you install the latest Driver for the Scanner from the HP website for
the Spec of your Scanner Version.
Try to uninstall and Reinstall the Scanner software and see if that solve
the issue.
Check for IRQ conflict.
Hope this helps

Thanks for your reply . Yes , I have the latest drive however I do believe
it is Windows issue because it has happend (the same) to My Computer and My
Document icons some time agon .

So , is there a way I can do it in Windows menu .
I have done everything I know , nothing helps . It is important for me
everything to be OK so I can't just ignore it

Thanks for all replies :)

and forgot to say , I reinstalled the scanner only (because it is PSC) and
this again doesn't solve the problem

It looks to me like...........

There's an option SOMEWHERE (I couldn't locate it) saying 'Show Icons in
all Possible Colors' (or similar).

But if all the desktop icons look ok then, all bets are off on that one.

Check in the Device manager if the scanner OKay or not.
If not try to troubleshoot from there.
Sorry I don't have something in mysleeve now, and it is late at night now
hope someone with better Solution for you.
Good luck

Hi Panda man
Sorry to hear your probs - seem to have tried everything - was there not an
April MS update that buggered HP stuff.
I appreciate the effect of that KB was a while back, but...........you just
reinstalled XP.
Would you then have to put all the updates back on?
It all else fails, pop over to the hardware group - someone there may have a
suggestion or two.
Good luck

Thanks , Dave . I'll search it myself but if you can find it , please ,
write down the path . I'll be here :)

Hi Dan
I think you are referring to an option in displays that MSN2000 had, if my
memory serves me - I have an old comp boxed in the attic with 2000 on it.
Its not in XP though?????????? Is it not set as a default or something.
Sorry - not much help.
