ok i recently bought a average graphic card from crucial and it says i need
to remove/uninstall the existing card, but the problem is i have a
intergrated chipset but i dont know how to uninstall it because its obvious
that i cant remove it,

could someone give me a walkthrough on how to uninstall it.

cheers

Your motherboard manual, or motherboard manufacturer's web site, should
contain the info on how to "turn off" the on-board video card.

1.) That is NOT a Windows XP problem
2.) Remove the drivers from Device Manager.
3.) Reboot and go into the BIOS and turn off your onboard video
4.) Depending on your BIOS you may have to enable AGP port and set BIOS
to start up to AGP video.
5.) Shut down computer after saving BIOS changes.
6.) Install New video card.
7.) Boot computer, and once Windows boots up, install latest driver for
your video card, and reboot.

I can't. I don't know anything about your BIOS.

It's different for different motherboards. And I've already given you
the generalities of what to need to look for.

i dont like the sound of that should,
im really confused, now i dont know where to start, put it in ane see what
happens or uninstall from device manager then put it in.

Put in the AGP card and start the system and install the drivers, it will
then diasble onboard video which is what it is meant to do, then plug your
monitor into the new card and away you go

wow! that was great info!
that must have been the best reply on newsgroups ive had so far.

cheers

Of course not all motherboards work that way. Some need the onboard
video to be turned off in the BIOS.

You would disable it in the BIOS, or at the very least set the AGP, or PCIe
as first display in the BIOS.

Check your motherboard manual on how to do this.

AFAIK you could probably use both video outputs with 2 monitors.

If you brought the graphics card to play games, and you go down the 2
monitor path, you probably need to set the new card as the primary display
in Windows, so the program will use the right vga adapter. The second screen
might go blank or just display the desktop, depending if you use clone mode
or extended desktop.
