Grand total

I am trying to set up a grand total of totals.
Total is [unit1]+[unit2]
and the grand total at the end of the report is of the form
Sum([unit1]+[unit2])
All I get on the report is #error
what am I doing wrong?
 
Where are you putting the calculated control for Grand Total?

It needs to go in the Report footer. It will not work in the Page footer.
 
Thank you. That did the trick - things take so long to work out for a beginner!
