If I start gpedit.msc (WINXP), I get the error
message "Snap-In konnte nicht initialisiert werden, Name:
Gruppenrichtlinie..." and then gpedit aborts. How can I
solve this problem ?

Are you in a domain?

It could be a policy restricting the use of mmc templates..

Hi!
Assuming it's a XP Pro ed.
START>RUN>SFC /SCANNOW>OK
If not corrected insert XP bootable CD and go for "Repair XP"

Hi !
SFC /SCANNOW does not repair the problem. When I start
with WINXP-prof-CD and go to the repair-console, I do not
know, what I have to enter at the prompt of this console !

Hi !

I want to find one other solution than a Repair Install,
because I know, that a lot of settings get lost on this
way. This is no catastrophe, but if there is a simpler
solution,I want to prefer these !

I think he meant if SFC /SCANNOW doesn't work, you could try doing a Repair
Install. Boot from your XP CD and begin a normal install. Once you have
pressed F8 on your keyboard to agree to the EULA, press R at the next screen to
begin the Repair Install.

A Repair Install takes as long as an original install of XP, but it doesn't
destroy programs or data. It also retains most
settings. One thing it does not
