Help file states CTRL+Home will set the IP at the beginning of the document.
Actually, at least in the case of Headers and Footers, it sets the IP at the
beginning of the Header or Footer. I know that I can use:

ActiveDocument.Range(0, 0).Select

to get to the start and assign it to a keyboard shortcut. Before I do, I
wanted to ask if there is an existing built in shortcut for set the IP at
the start of main body text from anywhere in the document?

Thanks.

No, there is not. Ctrl+Home only works in the currently selected "story
range", and there's no shortcut that will put the selection back into the
"main story".

Actually, switching the view back and forth (Alt+Ctrl+P, Alt+Ctrl+N) seems
to work in all cases I tested.
But that smells like a bug exploit, since I don't see why changing the view
*should* change the story range you're in.

Mmm. Since the Normal view applies to the main document story, only, I can
see how this would function. I don't think it could be termed a bug exploit.
OTOH, that's a couple of additional steps (and time, as well, if a long
document is involved that would repaginate; or lots of graphics on a slower
system). I think I'd go with Greg's approach (a macro)...
