I uninstalled the google toolbar last night because it was too annoying.
However, once it was uninstalled, i lost the sound on my machine.

I am not able to figure out how to restore the sound. Can anyone point me
in the right direction?

Marcus,

* Look in 'Control Panel > Sounds & Audio Devices > Volume tab, uncheck the
'Mute' button

* Look in 'Control Panel > Sounds & Audio Devices > Volume tab > Advanced
(Device Volume), look for any muted buttons

* Look in 'Control Panel > Sounds & Audio Devices > Sounds tab, make sure
the 'Sound Scheme' isn't set for 'No Sounds'

* Open Device Manager > expand (+) 'Sound, Video & Game Controllers',
right-click & 'Uninstall' the Audio driver & reboot computer

Drew,

Thank you for the information. However, none of these options will work.

There are no mute options available. When I try to click on the volume
control, it tells me there are no active mixer devices available.

In the device manager, when i right click on the six different items listed
under Sound, there isnt an option to uninstall. I can "update drive" but it
errors out telling me that there are not drivers found upon searching.

Marcus,

Those are the 'Audio Codecs' that don't have an option to uninstall. Your
audio driver was removed somehow.
* Open Control Panel > Add Hardware, select 'Next'
* Select 'Yes, I have already connected the hardware, click 'Next'
* Locate the sound device associated with your Sound Card, click 'Next'
* Follow directions to reinstall the driver

Drew

Drew,

Thank you for the information. I tried installing the Audio Codecs
Hardware, and it says that the device is working properly and will not try to
install it again.

I think I will look for or try to get a new image for the machine and start
over. Thanks anyway.

Next time, just disable the tool bar (Tools/Manage Add-ons/Uncheck Google).
