I was using gmail on outlook express, but now that I have switched to this
ridiculous Vista junk, I am unable to easily use the same sofware as before.

I have my account for gmail set up exactly the way it was on outlook
express, but it will not connect to the gmail server. Can enaybody tell me
if microsoft has excluded gmail or changed the settings somehow.

If you copy and paste the error message in to your reply it would be much
easier to diagnose the problem.

Set up your gmail account according to the settings provided by them,
especially the port numbers!!
The links describe setup for Outlook Express, Windows mail & Live Mail setup
is exactly the same.
