Globally set fields view

Hi,

I have a user who has someone unset his fields when he
tries to view his folders. We have straightened out his
inbox by going to current view and readding the fields
that somehow got deleted, however, I can't find the way to
do this globally for all his folders.

He has about 30 of them, and I'd hate to have to re-add
the deleted fields, one at a time for each folder.

There has to be a way to make one folder's view the
default setting for all the folders, but I can't find it.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,
Sharyn

You can't exactly apply the view to all folders at once, but once you change
a view that's available to all Mail folders, you can easily apply that same
view as soon as you switch to another mail folder. If the Advanced toolbar
is visible, there's a Views dropdown box on it -- the Messages view can
easily be selected there. No need to go back into "Define Views" each time.

I'm having a related problem with OL 2003. I defined a custom view
called My View. I went into Automatic Formatting and changed the rules
for Unread Conversation Headers and Unread E-mil Messages to choose
different fonts and color codes. When I want to apply My View to a
folder, I do as you suggested: open the folder and select My View from
the dropdown.

So far, so good.

I decided I wanted to color/font code my unread messages. There was no
default rule for that, so I created one (specifying that it should be
available to all mail folders). I didn't like my first color choice,
so I went back into Define Views and changed it. It only affected the
folder I was in when I made the change. When I use My View in any
other folder, I have to redefine the font/color.

Same problem with sort order. I changed the sort order and it only
took effect in the folder I was in when I changed it.

Any idea what's going on?
