Global Template in Excel

Yes, it is a file called Book.xlt which would be in the XLStart directory,
and you can customise this (font, column widths, colours etc.) so that all
new files take on this template.

It is probably worth adding two things to this reply.

1. You will only find book.xlt if you have created it. When you first
install Excel, it uses its own internal defaults. If you want to customise
the default workbook, you create a book.xlt file which Excel will use
thereafter. This is different from Word's normal.dot which is present from
installation.

2. book.xlt is the default for new workbooks. If you wish, you can have a
similar file sheet.xlt which is the default when you add a new worksheet to
a workbook. If you customise by creating book.xlt, I suggest that you also
create sheet.xlt; otherwise you are likely to get confused as new worksheets
will be formatted differently from those in a new workbook!
