Global retention (autoarchive) setting?

Is there no way to set the retention period for ALL mail folders at
once?

I see the "Clean out items older than..." setting under the
AutoArchive tab of the Properties entry for each folder, but I have
40-50 folders.

I am running Outlook 2000. Has this changed in later versions?

Outlook 2003 has the option to apply archive settings to "all" folders. I
don't know of any 3rd party solutions that mimic this ability for earlier
versions.

Good. We'll be upgrading soon.

Do you know if settings for specific folders are inherited (or can be
forced to be inherited) by subfolders?

Can I get the 2003 global setting to override any previous settings
for specific folders? I am trying to decide if should set some
individual folders now or wait until I get 2003.

In Outlook 2003, you can't right click on a folder, set properties and then
apply the inheritance to sub folders. Its global setting is found on the
Tools > Options > Other > AutoArchive.

Haven't tried the global setting as I don't use the feature, but by your
suggestion, I'm thinking you really want a 3rd party application/addin in
order to have more finesse on autoarchive settings.
