Hello!
I work for a small school district and when we receive
new machines we Ghost them to save set-up time. I'm
currently trying to create a new Ghost image and while
testing it I've discovered that XP Pro defaults to the
Home/Desktop power scheme for all new users that I
create.

I would like to either disable the StandBy or globally
turn of the switch that requests a password to return to
the desktop from standby.

Is there a way to set up a global power scheme that
disables StandBy for all users?

Thanks!
Jeremy

Hello Jeremy,
You can use Group Policy to disable the password.
Local Computer Policy
User Configuration
Administrative Templates
System
Power Management
Prompt for Password on Resume from Hibernate or Suspend

In XPSP2 there is a commandline tool powercfg that you can run, change
power settings including changing a power scheme or creating your own so as
to disable Standby if you want.
Thanks,
