Giving someone an old laptop

Do I need to do anything special when giving someone my old laptop with
Windows XP on it? I plan on reformatting and rerunning the rescue disk to
put everything back to its original state.

That's pretty much it, presuming you've gotten your data off and are giving
the recipient the media/license for Windows as well.

No, just give them the rescue disk and product key in addition to the
laptop.
