Hi..
I have a a Gigabyte GA-7S748-L mb.
I was wondering if I could use a eVga Geforce MX-400, 64 meg AGP 4 Vid
card with it? I plan to upgrade the card later but have this one.
The manual says that the AGP slot on the mb is 1.5V..I understand that
some of the older cards (agp1) are 3.3V.
The manual seems explicit about 1.5V only..
I tryed the website and there is no specs for this card as far as
voltage.
From what I can gather on newsgroups is that this card is both 1.5V
and 3.3V..
Just don't want to fry a new board..: )
Built some old 486 and Pentium boxes but been out of it for a long
time..
Thought I'd ask the gurus..
Any help or info would be appreciated..Thanks

Take a look at the keys in the card (I assume you have it with you now):
Are there two notches where the card inserts into the AGP slot? If so,
you're okay. If it has one notch only, and it's closer to the back of
the card (the end with the VGA port), then it's 3.3V only. If it has
only one notch, and it's closer to the front of the card, then it's 1.5V
only, and you should be okay.

Hi..
Yes..it has two notches (one near the front..one in the center..) plus one
notch at the rear near the 'hook' retainer....
I'll try it and see how it works..Thanks!

PS- the notch between the interface and the retainer 'hook' does not
count.
