When trying to save a .gif file from an email I am only given the option to
save it as a .bitmap. I never had this problem in Windows XP. Does anyone
know how I can do this in Vista?

That happens when the Temporary Internet Files are too full. In IE click
Tools | Internet Options. Click Delete Files in the Temporary Internet
files section of the General tab. On the next window place a check mark in
the box to Delete all offline content.

If that doesn't fix it, go to Tools | Internet Options | Advanced and scroll
down to the Security section. Uncheck "Do not save encrypted pages to
disk".

Thanks Frank, but temporary internet files are empty and the "Do not save
encrypted pages to disk" is not checked and I still only have the option to
save as a .bitmap. The only other option available is "All Files" and that
still saves the .gif to a .bitmap. Any other suggestions?

1. Open IE
2. Click Tools
3. Click Internet Options
4. Click General Tab
5. Under Temporary Internet files, click Settings
6. Click View Objects
7. Look at the Status column. Right click on the files listed as either
Unknown or Damaged, and then select Remove from the context menu.
8. Confirm with Yes
9. Close the remaining windows by clicking OK

If the above does not work, you may have to remove all the files in the
Downloaded Program Files folder.

Black Baptist...Thanks, following the steps you gave me, under the Status
column it said installed. However, I right clicked and opened the properties
to find that the 2 files listed were damaged. There was no option to Remove
any of these files. I contacted Sony Support and they had me reinstall the
Video Driver. Still no positive results. They then told me I need software,
like QuickTime, to be able to save a .gif file. After downloading QuickTime
and restarting my system I still am unable to save a .gif file. Any more
suggestions would greatly be appreciated.
