GIF Animations

How do I get a GIF animation to work? Using PowerPoint 97
and added an animated GIF but when I play the slide show
the GIF just sits there, no animation.
 
Unfortunately PPT 97 does not support animated GIF images... supported in
versions 2000-2003.
