I'm back with SP1 after a fraught day or so with SP2. But on
revisiting WU, I see there's another 'important' recommendation,
namely this GID thing. Despite browsing the associated material, I'm
still unclear as to whether it's worth the trouble. What's the
consensus please, for a solo home user?

Description of the Microsoft GDI+ Detection Tool

"The Microsoft GDI+ Detection Tool detects if you have any
one of the Microsoft programs installed on your computer that are
listed in the "Applies To" section. If the tool detects these programs,
you will be redirected to a Web page that contains the latest security
information and security bulletins."

Well, yes, I saw that, but it doesn't take me much further forward. I
can read the list on that MS web page without getting the update. I
see Office 2000 is on it, amongst many others. How many Office 2000
users have assessed the risk and come to any conclusions about taking
further precautions?

Is this the incredible exposure I read about recently that allows a
virus to be emebedded within an otherwise innocuous JPG?
