Getting WAB.DLL missing or corrupt error after upgrading to Vista

Hi Guys,

I recently purchased a new computer from HP with Windows Vista Home. I
installed Office 2000 on the new computer with Vista... Excel, Publisher,
Word all work well except for Outlook 2000. When I go to open outlook, I get
a wab.dll error message stating it's not intalled or corrupt. I can't even go
to 'File' in Outlook to utilize the 'Import' & 'Export' feature to copy all
of my 'Contacts' and 'Inbox' items. Is there a work around for this problem,
or do I have to upgrade to 'Office 2007' and start from the beginning?
Appreciate any help.

P.S. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Outlook 2000 to no avail.

Myweb,

Thanks for your response. I've visited this site and tried the fix, but it
didn't work. Thanks though.

Just for the record, copying the files defined on the link also fixed my
problem. Outlook 2000 now works perfectly with Vista.

Joao,

In case you missed it, this should fix the problem. It fixed my identical
problem.

Use Explorer to navigate to C:\Program Files\Common Files\System
Copy wab32.dll and wab32res.dll to C:\Windows\System32

Hi Mellowed,

I'll give it one more try and let you know. Thanks for the response.

I see many stumbeled onto this common problem.
This works perfectly. Some have said 2000 was not compatible. I was
disappointed after buying 3 new PCs with Vista but this fixed the problem.
Thank you guys.

I never saw the answer from Paul. What is the solution to the missing
wab.dll file??
