Getting rid of Windows Picture and Fax Viewer

Hello all: I can not seem to stop the useless "Windows Picture and Fax Viewer" from opening photos even though I have installed a version of ACDC to view photos. I even went to the Folder Options in the Control Panel and it says they are to open with ACDC but I still get WP&FV when I click a photo file

If the WP&FV showed in the programs list it would already be gone. It is another one of those "mother Bill knows what's best for us" things that I can't seem to find a way to disable

Don't know if this will work and you may have already tried it, but if not
it's worth a go. Worked for me. Go to Windows Explorer and 'right click' on
one of the chosen file types (picture file), choose 'always open with' and
pick your chosen programme. From then on files of that type should open with
your prog.

Hi Swamp Daddy,

I had the same problem on both of my WinXPhe laptops. What I did, was delete the associations . . . reboot . . . set new
association. I found with both machines that the reboot was necessary.
