I have Norton anti-virus software and it apparently gets rid of most
viruses...but I have had occasion in the past where it doesn't seem to
get rid of all of them.

I had a service which I would call up and they would walk me through
the process of getting rid of them but that service is no longer
available.

Does anyone know of a step-by-step process in which I can get rid of
viruses?

well it just happends i do this for a living...
1. the best way to do it is slave your HDD in another
computer and scan it from there...
2. if that's not posible, do all the online scans
possible..ie, http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan/

http://housecall.trendmicro.com/housecall/start_corp.asp

http://housecall.trendmicro.com/housecall/start_corp.asp

and so on..

then i would suggest DL'ing Stinger virus scanner."RUN IT
IN SAFE MODE" for best reults

Now the Anti-virus that i use is AVG its free and work far
better than Norton or Mcafee...not tio metion those too
eat up way to much system resorces..anyhow good luck with
the scans :)

Hi,

it depends on a virus. You can visit a page like:

* http://vil.nai.com/vil/default.asp in a search engine enter name of a
virus. Select it from a list that shows up and scroll down to Removal
Instructions.
*

and search for

Hi Shemp:
If the problem is with viruses, then try Johnny's suggestions, but if you
haven't tried ruling out that it could be adware/spyware jacking up your
system then try "Webroot Spyware Sweeper" at CNET.com. It took care of my
problems..but I still use Norton's Antivirus...partly because I got it free
for a year!

Good luck!
