I have a USB drive that Windows XP, everytime I plug it in, tells me would
operate faster if I had USB 2.0. I know that but my motherboard has no USB
2.0 ports.

Is there a way I can get rid of this message for all users. I'm a system
admin running in a non-administrative account. Windows XP Pro.

Many thanks to all.

Buy a PCI USB 2.0 card and you will have 2.0 ports. They're not
expensive at all.

But that may not eliminate the message. I sometimes get that message even
though the device it refers to *is* plugged into a USB 2 port.

John:
I found the following in my notes. Info is from some article I came across
but I didn't reference it. Haven't really worked with this problem lately
but I trust the info will be helpful to you...

To turn off this error message, follow these steps
1. Open Device Manager
2. Expand the Universal Serial Bus Controllers section; locate and then
double-click a host controller that has either the word "Universal" or
"Open" in the title.
3. In the properties dialog box, click the Advanced tab and then select the
"Don't tell me about USB errors" check box.
Note: If you turn off this option, all other USB error messages will be also
turned off.

John, please let us know if this works.
Anna
