just in the last couple of days puter started asking for
password on boot up..how do i get rid of the screen when
booting up...

thanks

Glen

I just recently purchased a notebook and on bootup it asks for my
password. There is none so I just hit enter and the boot process
continues. I have two other desktop pc's running WinXP and neither of
these machines asks for a password on bootup.

The MS article referred to does not answer the question of how to get
rid of this screen. On my desktop pc I am shown as the administrator
and the guest user is turned off.

Can't quite figure out how to get rid of this boot screen.

Hello,

On startup (during the tests about memory or processor)look for F1, F2 or
F10 reference to setup (if you don´t see any because of some screen with the
brand of the machine or something like that keep one key pressed until you
hear a beep, that should make the machine give an error related to the
keyboard and then you should have the option to enter setup or bios), after
entering setup look for "password protection" or something like that you
must deactivate the boot protection.
