I'm running WinXP SP2 Professional and everything was fine, but then all of a
sudden I started getting pop ups. I have the pop up blocker set to the
hightest level and I also have the google toolbar installed. Why would I
start getting pop ups and what can I do to stop them?

You have spyware/adware/scumware on your computer this is a free product
from Microsoft, download and check for updates,
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...A2-6A57-4C57-A8BD-DBF62EDA9671&displaylang=en
There are many products to remedy your problem
Lavasoft, ad-aware for free download check for updates
http://www.download.com/Ad-Aware-SE...045910.html?part=dl-ad-aware&subj=dl&tag=top5

Spybot free download check for updates and do a scan

My advice is to do full scans do not change any settings, they are
defaulted, unless you know what you are doing leave alone.

Personally I use Webroots "spysweeper"
http://www.webroot.com/downloads/?WRSID=94fcb4c682435ccb6aab418598b72b8e
an excellent product 30 free trial Full Version there after yearly licence
is $29.95 Well worth it, this program boots up when you boot your computer,
works in the background and prevents further crap.
My thought is you only need two items
to keep your computer free of crap and that is a good Anti Virus program and
Antispyware/adawre program.

If you have SP2 installed you have a firewall which is defaulted by
Microsoft, which is fairly good.

I hope this advice has been of help to you, After you completed these tasks
Please post your results, so as other users may benefit.

Thanks for the help Terry. Using Microsoft Antispyware really helped. It
finds a lot more spyware than Spybot, which is what I had been using. I
haven't had a pop up since. I recommend Microsoft Antispyware for anyone
having the same problem as I was. Just be careful when using it, because it
will delete programs like Kazaa, including your Kazaa music folder. I almost
did that and lost all of my downloaded files.
