Getting Outlook 2003 to display Contacts for e-mail Addresses

I just got a new computer with Office 2003. I got Outlook to use my existing
..pst file. However, when I click on the "To:" field for a new message it
tries to use "Address Book" (which is empty) as the source for e-mail
addresses. That's the only choice displayed in the "Show Names from the" drop
down list. How do I get it to look at my Contacts and show that as the
default list?

Open Outlook in Folder View, right click on Contacts folder, go to
properties, Outlook Address Bk tab and choose Use this folder as an address
book. Choose the other settings while you're there.

Thank you - that got me access to the Contact list. The only remaining
problem is that my Contacts folder is sorted by Last Name, First name, but
the address list that is showing up is sorted by First Name-Last Name. I
haven't been able to find an option to reverse that. Can you help with this
as well?

For your first problem, you still need to open the Address Book, then Tools
Options to tell the Address Book which Folder to display first.

For the second, Go to Tools > E-mail accounts > View or change existing
directories or address books > Outlook Address Book > Change. > Set your
sort order there

I also found that I had to right click on "Accounts in Business Contact
Manager" and "Business Contacts in Business Contacts Manager", go to
properties, Outlook Address Bk tab, and then un-check "Show this folder as
and email address book"
