Getting Kicked Off - Messenger?

Just reformated hard drive and loaded windows xp, reloaded
my msn8 broadband connection. After turning on computer,
no problems logging into messenger and msn8, but after
about 4-5 minutes, I get kicked off my login. Cannot log
back in unless I reboot. I never used messenger
previously with my msn account and I think its something
to do with that program. Is there some kind of time out
function I need to deactivate? What gives?
