I wanted to load my Windows 98 on so that I could use the
Microsoft word program. Is this not a good idea? If it
is a good idea, I need to do it inthe MS-DOS mode and I
can't seem to get into that. Can anyone help?

Windows XP is not based on the old MS-DOS platform so
one cannot boot into DOS.

How do I install Windows 98/Me after I've installed XP?

Microsoft Word isn't part of Win98, you know.

I never heard of goin into the ms-dos mode to use
microsoft word.. maybe you need to rephrase and specify
everyting that you have said....ttyl...

You need to load Office to use Word. Word is not, and
never has been, part of any operating system.

I'm sorry that I wasn't specific enough. I have Windows
98 SE from a previous computer and Office 2000 upgrade.
I want to put them on my computer that now has XP inorder
to use the office programs. When I put in the CD for win
(* it tells me that I need to be in a MS-Dos because it
will not load while I am using XP. Should I even try?
Will it mess up XP? and how can I do it?
Thanks for your reply

Windows 98 SE is an "operating system" and is unrelated to
Office 2000. Since you have the "upgrade version" of
Office 2000, you cannot install it unless you have a previous
and older "qualifying product" which does not include
Windows 98 SE. If you do not own a "qualifying product"
mentioned in the following article, you'll need to purchase
an "upgrade version" of Office 2003.
