How do I get the hotfix associated with Knowledge Base Article - 823086?

It says you have to contact Microsoft to get it so I clicked on the link and went through the
process and it said I was not entitled to free support and that I would have to pay a subscription
fee. I thought hotfixes were free.

Any suggestions?

They are - call Microsoft PSS and give them the KB number, say you need the
hotfix, and you shouldn't be charged.

http://www.kbalertz.com/Feedback_823086.aspx says to either wait for SP5
or contact support, and adds the following note:

"In special cases, charges that are ordinarily incurred for support
calls may be canceled if a Microsoft Support Professional determines
that a specific update will resolve your problem. The usual support
costs will apply to additional support questions and issues that do not
qualify for the specific update in question."

Sounds like MS should waive the fees if you're correct in your
assessment of the problem.
