getting an error msg 0x80042108 and 109.Help please

I am getting the following error msgl Task incoming.verizon.net
sendig'reported error 0x80042109 Outlook is unable to connect to your
outgoing/incoming SMTP e mail server. Using lap top, router and Outlook 2003

I've had the same problems with error codes 0x80042109 & 0x80042108 in
Outlook. This occured after I had installed the latest Office update (Update
for Office 2003 SP2). Before the update was installed, all was OK with
e-mail etc.
After installing I kept getting these errors. I restored my PC to a time
prior to installation and all was OK. The next night Auto-updates
automatically re-installed the Office 2003 SP2 update, and I had the same
problems again next day. So I again restored and all is now OK again. (I've
now changed my auto-update settings so I don't get this installed
automatically again overnight!).
Have you installed this update recently???

I don't know if this applies to you, but I disabled the Trend Micro Anti-Spam
Toolbar beta I was using to make my SP2 patched Outlook 2003 work again.
I did not need to reverse the service pack at all.
