getting a program off an old disc.

I have windows XP,my problem is I have a photo program on an older
scanner installe disc which is not compatible with XP.I know there is a
way to retrieve and installe just the photo program from this disc,as
thats how I had it on XP before,but Ive lost the directions on how to
do it,can anyone walk me thru what I need to do Thanks in advance..

Put the program cd in the drive. Either hold down the shift key when you
insert the cd to prevent autorun or just cancel out of the
installation. Then go to My Computer and right-click on the cd drive's
icon. Choose Explore. Now you can see the contents of the cd. Find a
folder with the name of the photo program and look inside it for
something like "setup.exe".

When I put the CD in it immediatly has a window telling me its no
supported by XP then when I go to my computer I dont see anything lik

So you exit the installer. Are you saying that when you double-click on
My Computer you don't see any entries for any cd drives there? Just the
hard drive?
