Your settings are incorrect. If you have POP access to Yahoo, use
these setup directions:
http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/original/mailplus/pop/pop-08.html

However, if you are based in the US, free Yahoo accounts do not have
POP access (without adding a third party utility).

truthseekr55 - This works flawlessly for me for using with FREE Yahoo and WLM
-
--http://ypopsemail.com/

Setup - http://ypopsemail.com/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&t=3289

This is for WLM, not WM.

Your internet provider usually offers you an email address as part of your
internet account. Ask them for their instructions for setting up to use
their
email servers. If they haven't written instructions for Windows Mail yet,
use their instructions for Outlook Express but under Windows Mail
instead. The instructions are probably somewhere on their web site.
Or, you could tell us who your internet provider is and see if anyone here
already knows where to find the instructions.

You have at least three options.
You can continue with your Yahoo account if you use the third party solution
mentioned by Wayne. It does require some technical expertise.

You can get an email address from your Internet service provider,
as mentioned by Robert.

You can get a free Gmail account: http://gmail.com
Then enable your Gmail account for POP:
http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=13273
Then set the account up in Windows Mail:
http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=13276
Those directions are for Outlook Express, but they will work for
Windows Mail.

truthseeker - My YPOPS tip is for the "computer challenged" and requires
almost nothing to install and use.

If I could do it in a matter of minutes, anyone can. Wayne
