When I go into word a funny"p" attaches to everything I do. At the end of
the document it is everywhere. It does not print but is very anouying to
work with. How can I get rid of it?

If the ¶ button on the Standard toolbar near the top of your screen is
highlighted, click it to turn it off... do the marks go away? If not, then
click on Tools | Options | View | uncheck the "Paragraph marks" box | OK.

The name for it is 'pilcrow', by the way.

Or if the button is not on your toolbar, the shortcut toggle (by which you
probably activated it in the first place) is CTRL+* (CTRL+SHIFT+8)
