get Error 0x80070424 when using windows update feature

I have XP service pack 2 installed and I get: Error
0x80070424 when using windows update feature and can't
turn on automatic update either. MS faqs etc. dont solve
the problem. Appreciate any help here. Thanks

Fyi, microsoft.public.windowsupdate is a better newsgroup for
Windows Update questions.
