Genrating a report and getting quote marks in some fields.

Please hekp,

I am genrating a report and I am importing the data with a
tab delimited fields. In some areas where there is a comma
in the field I get a quote mark "abc,def" in the field how
can i remove the quote marks in my final report.

Surkon,

It sounds as though you are exporting from Excel (File - Save as -
tab-delimited). If that's the case, Excel thinks it needs the quote marks,
even though you're not using commas for field delimiters (you're using
tabs). Try the Text Write program at www.tushar.mehta.com instead of
Excel's Save-as.

Can you tell me more about this file does it join to Excel and merge t
the program? And will my customer need to obtain the program also?

Surkon,

The Text Write Program is an Excel workbook with a macro program that will
write any sheet of any open workbook to a text file. There is a setup sheet
that gives you lots of options as to how it's to be written. If your
customer is to be able to write text files, they'll need it also, unless you
embed it into your workbook. That will be quite doable, but not trivial.
It could be done so as to insulate the customer from any of the details of
the operation - just click a button.
