Despite defragging and removing any viruses, two problems persist.
Firstly, I can't drag the Word icon onto the desktop, neither will it create
a Word shortcut on the desktop in the 'normal' way. Secondly, Word is
desperately, and I mean desperately, slow to load.

Any suggestions would be very welcome - go gently with a novice please.

With thanks.

You might find better answers in an office newsgroup.

However, you should determine the size of the pagefile. A pagefile that is
too small will cause a computer to get very slooooow. Let Windows
determine the size of the pagefile on your machine.

Some information about your computer would be helpful, especially CPU
type and speed and the amount of RAM.

Also what version of Microsoft Word are you having problems with?

Try going to http://officeupdate.microsoft.com and getting the latest
updates for your Word (and other office components).

Good luck

Hi...
Search for the following file on your C: drive: NORMAL.DOT.
When you find it, delete it (trust me....Word will recreate it itself).
Start word and your slow startup of word might be cured!
