1) Can I expand the thread & message panes for easier reading
2) Is there a quick way to locate a specific thread I'm following when I get back into Office Discussion Groups (e.g., is there a "reference #" or "post time" that I can display for each thread)? If not, recommendations
Thank you
Anita

Use a real newsreader as opposed to the CDO at MS support site.
Windows come with one (Outlook Express), that way you can flag messages
and delete etc..

Anita,
There aren't a lot of options if you are accessing the newsgroups through the Microsoft Discussion Groups Home site.

1) You can't change from the single pane at the bottom of the screen.

2) I usually copy the subject of any thread I am following into a spreadsheet. Then you can return to the group and search on the subject. When a title is generic like "Excel Problem" you will get a whole bunch of hits and they won't be listed in any particular order. Sometimes enclosing the search text in quotes will help narrow the return hits.

Your best bet is to access the newsgroups through a newreader, like Outlook Express. Check under Tools>Newsgroups. The server you want to connect to is msnews.microsoft.com. You will have a whole range of options here, like opening seperate windows and flagging threads you are following.

Unfortunatley if you are stuck behind a fire wall like me, then you have to use a web based access. Another option is http://www.excelforum.com, but this takes longer to get responses because messages have to be exchanged back and forth between their server and the microsoft server.

For searching for old threads nothing beats http://groups.google.com/advanced_group_search?hl=en
If you enter *excel* for the newsgroup, google will search within every excel newsgroup.

Hope all this helps you out.
