Installing XP Home over Win98. Startup copys files and
gets almost done, ready to install when I get an error
message that gdiplus.cab is corrupt and loaded with
zeroes. This is a legal version bought from Best Buy. I
have tried this four times with exact same result.
I can not do a clean install on this machine as the 98
version is an OEM with no restore disks. Any help? Is it
possible this XP disc is bad?

Ken,
I was getting the following message "The file
C:\$WIN_NT$.~LS\i386\asms\1000
\MSFT\WINDOWS\GDIPLUS\GDIPLUS.Cab is corrupt; it contains
all zeros". This morning I reinstalled Win98 and then I
disabled the USB controller because I'd been getting
Hardware Compatibility Issuses that the USB Controller
MAY not work or need updating. Then I started the XP
installation again and it is working just fine.
I hope this helps. Terrie
