garbage characters in IE6 ( utf-8 ? )

Hi...

This seems to be an encoding problem.

I have Win98, IE 6.0.2800.1106IC (latest service pack, as far as i
know).

Some sites, specifically http://search.ftphost.net/, give me back
garbage characters.

On that site, the first page works fine, it seems it's the .aspx pages
that give the problem. Encoding has been on Auto-select, and on
UTF-8, to no avail.

However, it works on some of my colleagues PC's, and not on others. I
could find no consistency. It works fine in Netscape 7 though.

Another funny thing: when i see the garbage, and press the back and
forward buttons quickly once in my browser, the text displays
correctly. I say quickly, because it obviously uses the page that has
been loaded previously, instead of reloading the .aspx

Torturing my back and forward buttons like this is, however,
inefficient.

Anybody got any advice?

regards,
Francois

A long shot but have a look at this setting.
In the IE-Options->security, I had to allow "META REFRESH".

Thnx for the reply, but unfortunately my META REFRESH was already
enabled, so I'm still stuck with this problem...

Hold the Ctrl or the Shift key while refreshing the page. Does it display
the new page?
